Top Ten Sketches of Season 37 (Thus Far)
(in no particular order)
#1 - Someone Like You (Emma Stone/Coldplay)
Given her year, it was inevitable that Adele would be the subject of her own SNL sketch. Instead of poking fun at the songstress, however, the show opted to satirize people’s reactions to the ubiquitous ballad, “Someone Like You”. A smart move and a smart sketch that culminated in host Emma Stone and the cast singing a chorus familiar to emotional, drunk girls everywhere, “Sometimes it lasts in love/But sometimes it hurts instead”. Zeitgeisty, funny and a nice tribute to the lady whose music scored 2011 – what more could you ask for?
Adele is a great balladeer, no question about it. For example, “Someone Like You” is an extraordinary song. But what I really love is when Adele releases stompers like “Rolling in The Deep” and “Rumor Has It”. That girl is peerless when it comes to performing stompers.
